Coronavirus: Lab Leak Part 10 - W.H.O. Director General

I came across an interesting article at the Associated Press via the LA Times (Jul 15) that just might indicate some frustration over at the World Health Organization with the lack of transparency from China when it comes to the search for the origins of COVID-19:

The head of the World Health Organization acknowledged that it was premature to rule out a potential link between the COVID-19 pandemic and a laboratory leak, and he said Thursday that he was asking China to be more transparent as scientists searched for the coronavirus’ origins.

In a rare departure from his usual deference to powerful member countries, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said getting access to raw data had been a challenge for the international team that traveled to China earlier this year to investigate the source of the coronavirus.

. . . “We need information, direct information, on what the situation of this lab was before and at the start of the pandemic,” the WHO chief said, adding that China’s cooperation was critical. “If we get full information, we can exclude [the lab connection].”

The WHO Director General floating the possibility of a lab leak isn't necessarily new. Back in February, after the WHO did their investigation in China, he stated that all hypotheses were still valid even though the official report listed that the lab leak was extremely unlikely.

I could almost see the above quote as challenge to China: give us the information that proves this didn't come from the lab!!!

Does it seem curious that the WHO is showing this public frustration towards China? This is the same WHO that back in March 2020 avoided discussing the situation in Taiwan, instead saying that China was doing a good job in controlling the spread of the virus. Or is the WHO coming under increased pressure from other world governments beyond just the United States? The article has this sentence quote from German Health Minister Jens Spahn: We do appreciate the cooperation of the Chinese government so far for the first mission, but that's not yet enough.

Anyways, for this to come some 5 months after the WHO investigation in China seems to indicate that something is going on behind closed doors.
